Wyee Structure Plan

About this project

Council is making a new Wyee Structure Plan to guide growth and change in Wyee over the next 20 years.

The draft plan is now on public exhibition. You’re invited to review the plan and make a submission by 23 June 2026.

Wyee is part of the Greater Morisset Growth Area identified in the NSW Government’s Hunter Regional Plan . By 2046, the Wyee population is expected to more than double to about 7,300 people.

The Structure Plan sets out locally-focused planning principles and precincts to support Wyee’s growth in a coordinated and positive way. It outlines a future where Wyee develops as a lively, well‑connected local centre, with a range of housing close to the train station and shops, safe and convenient walking and cycling options, and good local job opportunities — all while preserving its rural character and natural surroundings.

The vision in the Wyee Structure Plan will evolve gradually, as private landowners choose to rezone and develop their land over time.

The draft structure plan is aligned with the planning priorities in Council’s Local Strategic Planning Statement and the NSW Government’s Hunter Regional Plan and the  Greater Newcastle Metropolitan Plan.
